Experts OnDemand: Getting the Perfect Fit: Custom Liners and Custom 4U scanning

This course is part of our Experts OnDemand series.

Description

Prosthetists regularly treat patients with residual limbs that require deeper intervention than an off-the-shelf liner. Adherent scar tissue, atypical shapes, and sensitive skin are all indications that the patient may need a custom liner. This presentation will discuss the materials available for custom liners, patient indications, casting methods, and scanning methods for shape capture.

Objectives

After successfully completing this training, attendees will be able to:

  • State two differences between urethane and silicone liners
  • Describe the casting process for an Ottobock custom liner
  • Explain why a patient might benefit from a custom liner, given specific patient details in a case scenario.
